Camilla Jerre appointed General Manager at Moxy Copenhagen
December 18th, 2018
Core Hospitality has appointed Swedish Camilla Jerre to lead the launch of the new 226 bedroomed Moxy Copenhagen, Marriott’s lifestyle hotel brand. As the hotel’s Captain, the brand’s twist on the General Manager position, Camilla will be introducing Copenhagen to the Moxy brand. The hotel is due to open in the Sydhavnen district in March 2019. Having been inspired by the Scandinavian functional design culture, it is only fitting that the brand is finally opening in the Nordic capital.
Experience and the Moxy attitude
Armed with 13 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Camilla Jerre has previously been part of two pre-opening projects. Prior to joining Moxy Copenhagen, she led the team at Quality Hotel View as Front Office Manager. Before then, Camilla also served as Front Office Manager at AC Hotel Bella Sky when it was rebranded.
“Having been at hotels with 812 rooms and been part of the daily check in and out of 500 rooms, I understand what the technical aspects demand. But I live for the personal interaction with guests and I lead by example on the floor with my team. While I do appreciate the need to take care of business in the back of house, I look very much forward to being part of a lifestyle brand where focus will be on bringing the Moxy experience to life,” says Camilla Jerre in a statement.
Per Denker Sørensen, COO of Core Hospitality, the management company that will operate Moxy Copenhagen, explains why they chose Camilla for the position: “We see a person with huge ambitions; a real hotel nerd in the cool way. We see a big potential in Camilla because she clearly has a passion for guest relations and coaching, and she also understands the importance of brand standards and results.”
Bringing Moxy to life
The property is being developed by Vastint Hospitality, and Camilla Jerre is soon ready to set sail and welcome aboard a small (but mighty) Crew. She is on the lookout for a team of people that can bring the Moxy experience to life: a playful and edgy, millennial-focused hotel brand for the young at heart; a reinvigorated hotel experience for the budget savvy traveler; a killer price point that does not compromise on style and quality. Auditions to find the hotel Crew will be hosted in January but Fun Hunters can already apply now. While this approach to hiring is not new, it is still abnormal but will ensure that the hotel finds staff with the right attitude, allowing Moxy to offer a different type of experience than its competitors.
Camilla comments, “This will be a playground for those who love doing it all and who are genuinely excited to make a difference and have some fun with guests. Moxy will stand out for being a different player in the field with its unique approach to the guest experience. I truly believe that we will be able to create this experience all week by welcoming both travelers and locals; partnering with the business community and the nearby university as we have the perfect facilities for working hard and playing harder.”
Core Hospitality, the management group operating the hotel, was launched just one year ago but already has a strong management team that is operating two hotels in the Greater Copenhagen area. There are more than 90 Moxy hotels planned worldwide and Core Hospitality has confirmed two of these in the Nordics.
